I “need” to pick up 3-4 rod and reel combo’s for sturgeon fishing, I’m thinking right now the King kat or white pole shakspere combo’s. They don’t need to be fancy, they just need to work reasonably well. As I’m buying 3-4 they also be priced right… $40 a rod reel setup is pretty much the Limit I have set, I’m thinking this is somewhat reasonable. Pretty much these rods will see a bit of sturgeon season, and maybe someday some cat, realistically they won’t ever get used much.

Also I noticed the shakspere ones had line on them, can I get away using that?

I’m sure a croix rod an a nice reel would be great, it however doesn’t appear to meet the 3 rod and $150 total price range…

    I don’t hatem, I envy their price

Just preparing the wife the other day for the future, where I go set-up all rods and reels in my boat, probably with st.croix and the price tag that will come with the adventure….

Sadly that’s still in the future….

Maybe you have seen this post.

This setup did work on some low to mid 50″ fish using 50# PowerPro.

These were on sale for around $50 if I remember correctly.
