Where do you get your bait?

For those of you that use live suckers…do you buy them or catch them? If the latter, where do you find them? Being from WI, I primarily use sunnies because they are easy to find just before dark. I release what I don’t use before heading in.

If one person chimes “IN THE WATER”. I will hunt you down!

We get them in the deeper holes of the creeks up here with a seine. I can get 10-12 dozen in an hour or so. Another couple weeks they will be stacking up thick and easy pickings with a seine. The smallies and walleyes love’em in the fall.

Sometimes I wonder just what kind of forum this really is!

I wonder if Brian is still enjoying those small, round beads that Dean turned him on with that one time…

Oh, and as for the question at hand, I buy them because I have no clue where or how to catch them myself and my fishing time is at too much of a premium to blow it hunting bait.

Yeah, I don’t have time to mess with catching bait either.

Red Wing’s bait shops generally will have to 8 to 18 inch suckers the cat guys use.

Since Dean didn’t get too angry with the above post, maybe we can give him your seine Jared and he can start catching them for us…huh?

Stuart, have I mentioned that I see you in my dreams – if I eat too much cheese.

I heard there was a BK sighting up on pool 4, but then it turned out to be Bigfoot…not sure which is more rare in August.

I just got 30 lbs of frozen suckers from a shop in Mankato for $12. Was kinda fun thawing them in the sink just enough to break them into 2 lb chunks. Same place has BIG suckers and big bullies.

Hey Joe, now tell the rest of the story about how down at Evert’s you left an open bag in the bottom of your boat over night. That story ends well!

Ya, 2lbs of thawed suckers+water+heat+sonny’s stink bait= The Swollen Goat smells authentic. Not so bad now after a week in the sun.
