Minnesota river question

I’ll be heading up to stay at a Bloomington hotel with the wife and daughters later this afternoon. It is right off of 494 on 100 (normandale blvd). The wife said to pack my poles, because the girls plan on shopping the MOA this evening. So, is there an accessable public shore spot not far from there that I could sit and soak some cut bait for a few hours?

Blackdog road by the power plant. You can hit the Blackdog exit right off 35W and the river. There is about 4 miles of road and you can pull over anywhere to soak a line.

I’m sure others will chime in with some other accessible spots, but Blackdog is the classic. Good luck!

Classic spots are the 2 water discharges from the power plant. One is right by 35W bridge and the other right by Cedar Avenue(77) bridge. You’ll have companay in either spot. If you dont care what you catch, use crawlers on a leader sitting off the bottom and you’ll get some good Carp, Sheepie, maybe some Cat action. Bring some decent weights if the current is strong and 8lb test minimum.
Otherwise, casting lures might net you Walleye, Pike, Dog fish, etc… One thing fun about the river is you never know what you catch. Pretty well guarentee you’ll catch something!

You’ll be near the Bloomington Ferry Bridge too. Not as busy down there and you might find a will channel that comes up from the deep hole under the bridge.

Go south on 169 to W 108th AKA Old Shakopee Rd.
Go East to Bloominton Ferry Rd on other side of ballfield
Take a right and another right at the stop sign to stay on BF RD.
In a few blocks you will see the sign for the park on your right.
