Channel cats on the chain

It has been a tough summer here to get a good bite going. 2-3 fish has been the norm. The ones that bite are girthy and well fed. Last night I got out with an old friend and picked up 5 which seemed like a hot bite. Missed a couple of bites too. Tally for the night a 27 x 14, 26 x 13 and a 23 x 14 and two shakers. One of the shakers got a good shot on me in the thumb. 23 x 14 my friend Netman is holding was as fat a fish as I’ve ever seen at that size. Flat no wind conditions and high humidity have always turned on the fish here. Sometimes when the river is really high, seek out a lake or impoundment nearby and it can pay. The fish seem to like biting when there is football on the radio. The mosquitos have been murder down here but I have a thermocell which is the best invention ever made.

Nice fish, Kev. Those channels look healthy with that pretty gold color to them. I agree on the ThermaCell – this hot, humid weather has made for some monster mosquitos.

Those are some nice looking channels. Good post.

The ‘squiters were biting me all night last night. They never shut off, but I can only imagine how they would have been without the cool air that came in early in the evening.

Great fish! I really like the color as well, do you see alot of them that look like that in your area?
