Tonight the members of the Alliance will be receiving an email talking about the 10″ bullhead rule that took effect this last Monday. Pretty much old news but news none the less.
Also, we’ll be asking what area they normally fish. Closest town, the body of water and if you fish for channels or flatheads on that water. This is in preparation for an advisory board.
We are looking for Subject Matter Experts if you will. The reason behind this is that X regulation for Y body of water might not be good for Z body of water. We have a diverse catfishery in MN. For Channels, we have the Trophy Red River, the St Lowrance River, the Minnesota River, the Mississippi and a few other smaller fishery’s like the Crow River. This doesn’t touch on the lakes.
Next up…
Although we don’t have a date set, the MN DNR is planning a catfish workshop later this year.
Now this doesn’t sound like much but the workshop is a HUGE win for the catfishing people of MN. The MN DNR is actually asking for input from the catfishermans perspective.
If you are not a member of the Minnesota Catfish and Sturgeon Alliance and would like to be, send and email requesting such to [email protected] and you’ll be added to the mailing list.
No spam and no advertising. Just working towards a better catfishery for you and your kids.
