“Kyle Ibarra’s mother sent us this photo of 10-year-old Kyle (wearing shorts) with a catfish he hooked while fishing a little south of the Franconia landing, on the St. Croix River. The fish weighed in at 43 pounds. With Kyle is his brother Ryan.”

The Inter-County Leader said he was using worms. Anyway, really nice fish.

Sounds like maybe you have your doubts that it was caught on a crawler?
I can personally count quite a few big flatheads caught from our canal down here on a gob of crawlers. Not my first choice when I’m targeting them, but it sure is fun when a nice flatty sucks em up and runs!

I don’t doubt it, I just never considered it.

Caught my first one on a crawler. Of course it was about 42 pounds lighter.

Caught this 32 pounder on a worm (in 2004) – on my danged worm pole too – little #8 baitholder and either 6 or 8lb test in heavy current. Took me forever.
