Hey everybody, I’m going out on the mighty St, Croix tonight. I’m landing out of Somerset landing and traveling North several miles to fish a small backwater near the railroad bridge. I plan on using suckers (cut and live and I might stop at the Willow to catch some creek chubs) and that goopy crap you all rave about.

Anyway what I’m saying is, I haven’t done that great this year so wish me luck. My digital camera hasn’t come in the mail yet; if I do catch something you’ll have to wait for the film to get developed (but that’s just wishful thinking)

Heck better make sure you cross all your “T’s” and dot all your “i’s” . Never been on a body of water we less DNR, sheriffs, and who ever else can stop you.

Well it seems I was skunked again. I had two good runs, one on cut bait and another on a medium sucker. The cut bait was mangled, and when I went to set the hook on the sucker there was nothing there (not even my minnow).

Otherwise we caught a tiny rock bass (which made it through about 6 hours as bait — still kicking when we let it go) and a sucker.

As for the light, we forgot it… But it was me and a buddy, so we flashlighted it.

Well everyone can fish my spots… I decided to change it up, so I did some bank fishing with Sonny’s dip-bait tonight. I went to Kinnie State Park and walked out to where the Kinnie flows into the Croix.

Before the sun went down I had two mid-size suckers. I didn’t feel like cutting them up for bait, especially with only a razor blade on me.

I tell you what though, after the sun went down I had three fish in a half hour. (Sorry, no pics… I went to take one when I realized the memory card was in my computer) The first two fish were a double… Anyway the first was 29×16 and the second two were around 20.

I was having some problems with the little guys swallowing the trebles out of the rubber worms, so I packed it up. Is there anything you guys do to prevent this or any better rigs than what I’m using?
