Catch of a life time, of the angler or the fish?

May have been a record Lake Sturgeon<<

Would it be possible to teach how to hold a large fish to people when they buy a license?

Hope the fish makes it to give someone else the same story of a life time.

I know, I know…the fish swam away health.

Nice catch, I’m wondering if the sturgeon is too skinny to warrant 100 lbs…

Glad to know I’m not the only one who thought that when they saw the picture.

Unfortunately, Denison will never know if she has a state record. She released the fish back into the water because she wasn’t sure if it was legal to keep it.

You’d need a tag up there too or does that only apply to the border waters?

It would be nice if the regs novel would have a section on catch and release and the proper handling of fish…not sure if people who NEED to read it would anyway.

    Yes a tag is needed.

First I thought that instruction attached to each tag would be the ticket. But most sturgeon are caught by people without tags. Incidentals.

I think I did see something about holding fish in a C&R page on the DNR’s site.

I don’t mean to rig on the guy/gal, it’s truely a once in a life time catch. I just hope it’s not once in the sturgeons life time.

I don’t ever have this kind of problem… but just out of curiosity, how exactly would one hold a live wiggling ~100# fish for it’s picture?

Sturgeon are pretty tame once boated.

Ruger has the concept above. Laps are even better. Here’s a 60.

    From last year.

If that’s a 60 then the one she caught ain’t no 100 pounds.

I think we should start doing demonstrations, picking someone out of the crowd and dragging them around by their lungs under water for 10 minutes, then tossing them back on the ground and saying “see, he’s fine!”
