Minneapolis Bait Shop Set to Close Doors

I was taken back yesterday when I received an email from long time friend and bait shop owner Bob Moore.

After over five years of showing anglers the latest tactics in catch their favorite species of fish, scooping minnows and getting stuck by the spines of the bullheads he sells, Bob announced that he will be closing his doors on August 30th of this year. Bob cited health issues as the over riding factor in his decision to close the doors.

Moore’s has been known in the cat fishing circles for it’s one stop shop for all cat fishing gear and knowledge since it opened. Something that is difficult to find in the Metro area. It might be the only bait shop that handles bullheads. Although Bob has a full line of cat gear, his shop was far from being a one species location.

According to Bob, the going out of business sales will be starting tomorrow, Wednesday, July 21st.

As with all dark clouds, the silver lining here is that Bob will have more that one opportunity per week to be out on the water looking for a bite.

One mans set back is another mans opportunity.

Maybe when the word gets out somebody will approach him and buy the shop. Win, win for everybody.

Anyway best of luck to Bob in the future.

This is really sad news. Bob’s is the go-to place where you know you can get no-rolls, good hooks, good bait, and a nice guy selling it to you to boot. Something tells me whatever bait shop I go to now will not call me ‘DFresh’ when I walk in the door

I’ll try to make it down for the sale. Thanks for the good times Bob!

Probably one of the toughest and most shocking PMs I have received on IDO was when he told me he was closing his doors. Going to miss the, “How we doing today?”, greeting and the, “I expect to see pictures posted”, good-byes.

Hopefully this means we might be able to get out together some more on the water. I only have had one chance to talk his ear off in the boat and he proved he is definitely a patient man.

I have to catch my own bullheads again? Seriously? I considered Moore’s my personal bait tank.

Thanks for your service over the years Bob!

Ain’t that the truth. I know so few people by their real names and he is always introducing people, in-case they never met in person and didn’t know each other from the online personas, by user names.

It’s unfortunate to hear of another quality Bait Shop closing down. Moores is a class act and Bob runs a fantastic shop. I always had no problem driving 30-60 minutes one way to pick up bait and tackle from Bob. He’s always good for a chat and service is nothing short of fantastic. Throw in the selection of Cat gear and it is the best place in the metro for a cat guy.

I wish him and his family nothing but the best of luck in whatever they decide to do next. Thanks for the service through the years Bob!

Having just started to frequent his bait store I find it unfortunate that he’s closing down, as he was always friendly and helpful.

Hoping Bob has a great life and gets to do the thinks he may not have time for now.

When I saw the header of this thread my first thought was hopefully not Bob. Sad to hear. I’ll be sure to stop in there a few more times before it closes.

I sure wish I wasn’t broke and unemployed because I would jump on this oppertunity in a heart beat, being addicted to fishing is a understatement for me. Bob is a great guy and his shop is definatly going to be missed by all.

    Take care!

    Same here!

Bob you’ll get to fish! I’ll miss your shop but I have a feeling you’ll be wanting to chase sturgeon! See you on the rivers instead of the shop Bob!

I consider Bob the best bait shop owner in the Cities! I know there are others but after losing the shop in Stillwater now my Fav shop Bob’s I’ll have to find another.

Gal dang it, I really liked visiting Moore’s. I’ll miss Bob a lot. And now where will I get bullheads at the last minute?

I sure hope someone buys the shop from you, Bob. Best of luck with the health issues my friend!

Good luck with whatever you chose Bob. I’ll be in to help you clear out some stock. It’s a sad day. The best Catfishing store I know is now going. Hope to run into you on the river Bob.

Been thinking about this since I heard this morning. Shocking and sad news..

Over the years Bob, you have become more than just a bait shop owner to me. You’re a good fishing buddy and friend. Whenever you want to get out on the water again give me a shout.

I’m totally saddened by this. Moore’s is a great shop–my go to for bullies. Not sure what I’ll do now.

    Good luck, Bob!
