bite is picking up a bit

My friend John has been down a little bit due to a slow recovery from surgery. So I asked him if he would like to come out and do some fishing that didn’t require a whole lot of finesse. I hate to get my butt kicked by a one armed walleye guy but he had the touch last night. Pic is of a 27 inch with a 17 inch girth. He got another 26 x 16 and missed a bite. I managed 3 beers and a baseball game on the radio. The bite is picking up and will get better each week until Labor Day. Nice work J, pleasure to be out on the lake with you. We did have a nice sunset to behold as well.

    One armed walleye guy!

Nice fish guys! Kev, you need to take John out more. Sooner or later he’ll have to come to his senses!

One a side note, as nice as it was on Pool 4 last night, no skeeters, perfect weather… we only could find one flat than might have made 5 pounds.

Your bite is picking up and mine is slowing. <sigh>

Guess it’s time to pull out the channel cat gear!

    Pool 2 @ 494 landed a 10#+ flattie, 3 decent eater channels, and a 2# sheephead on cut bait.

I’ll post the might in a separate thread, but I had to chime in cuz my boat did better that BK’s last night!!!

I better not get used to that…

Ooh, sorry… I forgot to mention that.

Nice cat! But I thought you were on a no fishing for 6 weeks restriction!

Well, I’m not SUPPOSED to be fishing. Kevin did the casting, slopping on of stink bait, and even fetched beers for me. I did everything left handed, which is why I only caught 2 of my 3 bites. I didn’t deliver a very good left handed hook set on the first bite. It was fun to be out, but I sure miss the use of my right hand when it comes to setting a hook and controlling a fish. Thanks for getting me out of the house Kevin.
