July 28, 29 – Southern Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower. The Delta Aquarids can produce about 20 meteors per hour at their peak. The shower usually peaks on July 28 & 29, but some meteors can also be seen from July 18 – August 18. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Aquarius. Best viewing is usually to the east after midnight.

That would be this Friday when we have clear skys, low temps at 67 degrees, water levels and flow on the Mississippi dropping.

I’m thinking it’s going to be good fishing!

Brian, do you ever take note of solar lunar activity like moon rise moonset am or pm majors and minors? I don’t think a metero Shower has much effect on fish or game activity but if you did notice a uptic in activity I’d bet it was because of some type of solar lunar event. Just a Muskie guys .02

I should have just made it multiple choice to begin with.

I think a meteor shower might actually make the bite tough. It would be pretty romantic for those whiskered critters seeing all those shooting stars.

A little Barry White on the underwater stereo, some chocolate and a few oysters, and a meteor shower, and I think love is in the water for our whiskery friends.

And I think fishing is gonna ROCK this Friday!!

Those showers are great times to fish here. The nights are getting longer and if you have clear conditions to see the sky the fishing is usually pretty awesome. I find myself looking up more an not paying attention and suddenly there are fewer little bobber lights in sight and if you aren’t careful a rod overboard.

Do they look like fire flys?

It looks like I’m gonna find out… I’m taking out a few guys on the FPB (that’s favorite pontoon boat, in case you were wonderingn heh). This’ll be the first time I’ve had 4 guys out in it.

First seem to be good luck for that boat, so here’s to hoping.

Why do things like this happen on days that I work? I’m not hardcore enough to stay up all night and go to work anymore That would be a cute night to fish on the river with the hubby <3

Always remember the golden rule of fishing.

The best time to go is when you can. Sometimes a person has to make their own meteor show. Speaking of that…have you picked out your kids names yet?

I’ll be bouncing around pool 1 and 2 until I find something starting in the morning. A whole week off and not much fishing to show for it.

I’ve been looking and have only seen one so far. Its only 11:55 though. The moon is super bright and the neighbor has his property lit up like an airport, so not the best viewing. Wish i was on the river.
