I’m afraid the glory days of flattie season 2010 are over… although I did do pretty well so far this year. I can’t really complain.

Jared, can you be a little more elaborate on that?

Ya, I would’nt go out any more this season. Thier teeth all fall out and they don’t feed any more for the year.

that is true. i’ll come by today and pick up all of your bullheads, since you won’t be using them anymore.

The month of July is pretty much Flattie love month.

The channels should be all finished up.

Just saying that in my experience the flattie bite is slowing down. They were chomping on everything out there for a few weeks and the last couple times I’ve been out it’s been a lot slower and the ones we did catch were scratched and beaten all to hell.

    That’s all…

They be plenty hungry after all the loving. Nothing beats a good June bite, but in a week or two the bite won’t be too shabby either. Plus, I look forward to being able to toss out cutbait and have a chance at both cat species.

A couple weeks ago we were out and we were catching flatties and channels left and right on cut. Jakob brought a 21# and my buddy Jeff brought in a 10# flathead on cut sucker. I brought in 2 of the 3 best I’ve ever caught that night. So it’s been happening for a while now… at least on Pool 2.

That’s why I said it’s winding down. Well, that and the fact that we’re catching fewer and fewer these days.

That said, I would LOVE to be wrong about this, because mammoth flatheads are tres rawk to catch and I loves ’em muchly!

I hope it doesn’t slow down too much. I just bought the new vehicle, and the receiver hitch should be in in the next couple days.

Well we went out last night and didn’t do too bad… one flat (10#+), 3 channels and a sheephead.

I’ve had far worse days and still called it a good day, so things are still reasonable.
