It’s true. My cup is half full.

In looking at the whole picture, I feel (and have photo’s) that we have the best fishing (and pretty damn good hunting) of the states that surround us.

From what I’ve seen, I believe the MN DNR as a whole does and outstanding job for what they are charged with. Sure, I have my frustrations too but all in all, we have some awesome fisheries in the state…and we have to give them credit for that.

do we have good fisheries – Yes. but give it time, and they louse all of that stuff up, just like everything else they touch.

I’m not calling you out on anything brian, but maybe you do not hunt, so you don’t see it “first hand”. But, with how the DNR manages our deer hunting, and waterfowl hunting, should get the whole lot of them fired. our hunting is not better in this state then the bordering states.

deer hunting is much better for quality animals in wisconsin and iowa.

waterfowl hunting isn’t even close. the dakotas trump us in every way possible.

turkey hunting – good, but because it is just catching on here.

pheasant hunting – dakotas hands down

we have mediocre hunting at best compared to a lot of other states.

and with some of the asinine rules that they come up with every year, you would figure that they are trying to turn away new hunters every year. they have made laws so confusing, that it is damn near impossible not to break the law, every other time you go out.

not to mention their great ability to count waterfowl numbers. like their counting of the Canvasback population 2 years ago, it was almost extinct, and then like quadrupled in size over 1 year. what a joke!

Granted, there are certain individuals, like Joel, who are doing a good job, but as a whole, our DNR is simply a model for other states of “What not to do”.

I want to try something from an outsiders view. I have a view of both Minnesota and Wisconsin and I want to see if what I think is right. I don’t know if this matters but I want to see. If I were to come to minnesota to just fish, is there any special regulations besides limits on each fish species that I should know.

Here in Iowa a visitor can go buy a liscense and then look in a phamplet to find the limits of each species, is it as simple as that in Minnesota, Im just curious and not slamming the Minnesota DNR or is there alot of regulation pertaining to the area im fishing. I’m leaving an open mind on this. Can anyone tell me if theres things I should know.

better make sure to read everything over, twice. or ol’ green jeans will be forced to write you a ticket for not pulling your drain plug.

or taking that bottle of water you were drinking, and putting it in the truck with you. you have now transferred water that was on the boat.
