2 weeks ago I started having drag troubles with a reel(black) I bought last winter on E-Bay ($19.99).
I knew I would have to have it cleaned and checked out but just threw some line on and used it as is, hopefully until this fall….
Sooo.. I figured what the hay,I’ll send both of my kitty reels for a tune-up – cleaning now and get it over with.
Just got’em back yesterday and boy am I a happy camper
Both are Penn #9 Peerless models…The red one being a 1984 vintage (I traded a 6 pack and 2 beef sticks for ).
Both now have new SMOoOTH drag disks, new 65lb PowerPro and so sparky clean that I almost hate to use’em….
I like my old timers, seeing as I’m one myself..Plus their CHEAP(total investment for both reels $70 )….
    There’s your opening Kev

Mudshark has the market cornered on cheap… You would think with some reels as old as those we might see a polaroid or two of some nice fish. Perch, You think you would take a six pack and some meat whistles for them?

    Ouch ….But your right Kev….As usual ……

It’s been a hard year for me and catfishing..I’ve only been on 1 nighter from shore (with no picks what so ever) this year.. Besides my fiddler fishing for supper that’s been it.

Lots of reasons I guess (both kids being pregnant at the same time, and the oldest buying their first house)
But the best excuse I can really use is that my only catfish’in bud is gone on a 2+ month traveling frenzy…..
Since I’m not allowed by the boss to fish alone at night anymore this really puts a crimp on things

I STILL might come on over and harass you one night this summer

We could probably work something out. I’m busy for the next couple of weekends but maybe somewhere round the last two weeks of July. That is prime time here.
