The new boat

Hi all. As I mentioned, I just took the boat out for her maiden voyage, but Mallory and I haven’t decided on a name yet. Were stuck between the HMS Mallorz (Mallory’s nick-name) and the HMS Claudia (the name my grandpa had tattooed on his arm (but not my grandma’s name)). Does anyone have any input?

You remember your grandma and pa…no one is remembering Claudia.

    Claudia!

BTW never name a boat after your wife. I’ll just leave it at that…’cause my Favorite Wife is coming.

You’re lucky to get to name your boat. My boat had a name when I bought it Mr. Pike.

You can’t name a boat anything but a corny pun. I have seen the names of boats on the Mississippi and 1 of 10 might actually be funny.

Brian should name his boat The Sanetizer…not that it would be one of the 10 either.

Shouldn’t it be the USS Claudia tho? “HMS” is an acronym for “His/Her Majesty’s Ship” and is used to identify British sailing vessels, specifically military ships.

USS is “US Ship” and is the same thing only for US Ships (durrrrrr heh). Apparently our early Naval command had little in the way of creativity and had a great deal of experience with the British Navy of the time… our Navy is essentially a copy of theirs with some evolutionary differences.

In any case, I like USS Claudia. It’s got an inside joke, a family tie-in, and probably a very long story behind why your grampa has some woman’s name tattooed on his arm.

I was using hms as a pun even before I knew I was supposed to have a pun

Catfishing boat do not have names. They have nicknames, to be sure, but none of this name-on-the-transom crap.

Been a few years, but seems I remember 16-18’r with “Mega Yacht” on the back and a 40’r or so with “Barely enuf” on it….guess you can name it whatever works.

    What size boat btw??

My first decent boat was “Bear’s Baby”, the latest one just says Alumacraft and LaCannes Marine on the back, I figure that’s enough.

    Happy July 4th!

Hey, if you two are still set on camping out. Dean has a spot for you at Everts.

It might not be right “on” the beach because of the high water, but it is a place to pitch a tent. More than likely a fireworks show and plenty of channel fishing close by.

    Off to cause more trouble…

Mike, it’s almost too bad your name isn’t Mark, because theyn you could name the boat:

    Mark’s Mallo.

Altho Mike’s Mallo doesn’t ring too poorly.
