How many times do these get taken on cut-bait while bottom fishing? This one was 50″. Not an easy task with no gloves in the boat. I wonder how many of our “runs” were one of these bad boys?

Those things are an absolute riot when they’re topwater feeding. One of the best times I’ve had fishing topwater baits……and one of the most expensive….

    Is that a longnose?

Apparently they can be up to 6 feet long! They’re amazing prehistoric monsters…

That is a really nice gar how much did it weigh. Our last two trips we have been hit hard by gar. They are very hard on my bait supply. Our last two trips we have come home skunked. Do you guys think the Flathead s have started into the spawn and the bite has slowed up.

Wow! Forgot about this post. I thought we get e-mails when someone replies to our threads? Am I missing a setting?

Dave, no idea on weight, we just got it measured and out of the boat. Not my first of this size and both times I had no gloves! At least I had a helper with me this time. The first 50″+ I caught (also on cut bait off the bottom) I was alone and got my hand chopped up pretty good. But hey, chicks dig scars, right?

Last time I heard the email notification function was decommissioned.

Too many emails going out and the ISP’s started blocking them as spam. This resulting in Ido’s mail bag over flowing with bounced emails.

Long answer for a short question, I know.

I think those gar are way cool and are as strong as heck!

I hate it most when all you feel is like a big log down on the bottom on the end of the line. That’s a huge longnose. The alligator gar at that length would be huge in girth.
