One of our (all cat fishing and sturgeon people) problems is we don’t have representation with the DNR.

There’s advisory committees made up of Joe Fisher’s for

    Walleye

    Pike/Muskies

    Bass

    Panfish

    Trout

    Great Lakes Fish

…but nothing for catfish or sturgeon.

    This is changing right now.

Announcing the Minnesota Catfish and Sturgeon Alliance.

It’s membership charges no fees. Members need not live in MN but need to fish MN waters. Communications are held though email and it’s sole purpose is to talk with the MN DNR about bettering the catfish and sturgeon fishing in MN and it’s border waters.

Once our numbers are sufficient, contacts will be made at the MN DNR to form an advisory board.

To join the Alliance, send an email to:

    No fees…equals no stickers. Sorry.

BTW Members do not need to be members of a website either.

Only to have email access and a yearning to better the catfish/sturgeon experience.

We might have a secret hand shake though.

I was actually assuming that. Expressing the desire for something is not the same thing as an expectation of receiving that thing. For example, I often say “I’d really like to land the world-record channel cat!” but I have no real expectation of doing so.

Also I have a friend who often says “I’d really like to win the lottery!” This friend does not, however, have any real expectation of doing so because, at least as far as I know, one must purchase lottery tickets in order to be in the running.

    Indeed.

That does it! I think we need to start setting standards. If that Brett guy emails you, I am withdrawing my membership!

    That’s what she said you’d say…

What if I pay a fee, can I have a sticker then?

OK OK, no stickers, I get it. I will settle for better interaction with the DNR.

No membership fees, no stink bait samples OR hair replacement.

Just a chance to be part of a group that wants to make cat and sturgeon fishing better…which includes the use of two lines.

    (I think)

    #3. Vote early, vote often.

Stay in school! My bro-in-law is 30 and still working on his doctorate… it worked for him!

Wait, this isn’t a campaign speech, is it… never mind.

If you have friends that are into cat fishing, please let them know it’s free and advertising free…and all about the future of cats/sturgeon.

    I’m in as well.

Are there any WI DNR reps on here? Since two huge cat fisheries are the Mississippi/St. Croix boundary waters, it would be nice to see some joint discussion happen from time to time. Different regulations on the same body of water won’t help our cause; which is bigger fish, correct?

Membership when up to 31 over the weekend!

Not bad…but there are hundreds more folks out there that care about the cats and sturgeon of MN and it’s border waters.

Just need to keep on spreading the word!

…and to those that have…Thank You!

    Just gave out #41!

Remember we need people from all over MN. Red River, Crow River, Morton/Redwood Falls on the Minnesota just to name a few.

    Anyone have Rusty Millers email?
