Anchor method

How do you guys like to anchor? Single? Double? Both on the bow, or one bow, one stern?

I like to put one on each end of the boat with long lines and pull each tight to give me a non-wandering boat. Since I use trebles, I mainly fish vertical, so this helps me move over and around the structure in deep water. I just slack one line and tighten the other. It works for me, but thought I would get some other ideas.

Sunday afternoon in the 30 mph gust, while channel cat fishing I was able to use the Drop and Stay Deuce.

The wind was from the starboard and there wasn’t much flow…a perfect time to try it out.

One anchor held me in the side wind. Every once in a while the wind would shift and the back end would swing, but most of the time it held me in the exact position I wanted to fish.

Rumor has it that they are so impressive for boat wakes and in wind, Everts will have a try before you buy loaner. Just what I heard.

Otherwise wood fishing for Flats it’s one anchor off the bow. Seldom a back anchor.

If im fishing out the back of the boat and the wind and flow cooperate, one anchor off the bow. Some places I like to park the boat perpendicular to the current, then I anchor off the bow and stern. I got a drift sock this year that I’m pretty excited about.

If I have 2 or more in the boat I use 3 anchors. I like to anchor perpendicular to the current. So its one off the bow and one off the stern upstream. Then one off between the stern and mid-ship strait down to stop any sliding back and forth.

At times it can be a little work, but for the almost complete lack of movement, definitely helps keep my lines in the water where I want and when there is movement there is little question as to what it is.

Something wrong with this image as that is definitely not a cat boat, and that sure as heck isn’t you. I mean thats white rope, and not black… its pretty obvious.

I couldn’t get Jesse to wade out far enough to take the pic. I stole it from their website…and we are talking about Rich’s choice of rope colors as we speak.

Since I primarily fish in my boat solo (besides the dog), 1 anchor deployed from the bow is by far the easiest. The boat is more likely to sway with only one anchor, but trying to set two anchors (if perpendicular to current flow) or pull an anchor while hooked into a fish, require more than two hands and not worth the effort in my opinion. Plus, I almost sunk a boat in high current when the front anchor was pulled prior to the rear – not good. If the cross wind is too strong, just try to nose up on shore.
