Homemade stink bait

I have the newest smelliest stuff for BK to use on the big Sippi. After rooting around looking for my heavy walleye jigs I stumbled across my wading tackle box in the garage. Huh last time I used that was last September wading for walleye on Upper Red using frozen shiners…that were still in the Ziploc bag in the box.

Holy hell that is a stink I will never forget! And why did I open it?! I think I gagged for half an hour and I gut bear for a living! First thing I thought of was BK and his catfish…so I boxed them up and sent them in the mail. They should be showing up any day now let me know how they work.

Did they let you send it without a hazardous material placard ? Better hope they don’t sit it by the heater !

I hope BK appreciates it. I know I will once it gets to his place.

Come to think of it the worst smell ever was my fancy stink bait Dennis and I tried one night; it was worthless other then it made a big stink. Well Dennis and I parked the boat about 2am and forgot about the tightly sealed tub of stinkbait…until it exploded in the 100 degree heat and sun three days later. Holy hell did that stink and I think the spray of it covered every inch of the river pro from the counsel to the stern.

I was no longer allowed to bring stink bait, or even talk about it.

That’s why it didn’t work when you used it…it wasn’t done “working” yet.

Joel, did I ever tell you the day on the Red River when I kiss Dennis Steele?

Not many people live to talk about that.

Not too much guys! He’s like Sasquatch; too much and he will scramble back to the river bottoms and not be seen for another year or more.

Dennis is always watching…think about that when you are posting… wooogie woooogie woooogie.

Now I have seen some pretty bad stuff in my day. I have been around the world with the military, grew up on farm in small remote fishing community and even spent a few years in the inner workings of the inner city but I do not think I am worldly enough to handle the image of Dennis and BK making out…yucka.

No one said anything about making out…

I found his name “down town” one day….and the rest is history!

Man that was bad also! As much as I want to post that I can’t bear to look at it long enough to get the job done. And to be honest I had no idea Nelson was going to reach out and grab your hand when I went to take a nice picture of two guys hunting together.

Very nice. Still my favorite catfishing/fishead pics.

How come I didn’t get a helmet and why did he need one? Can’t be good.

    I remember him catching that!

We were trying to figure out why they would be in the water.

Then the argument started about who was going to take them home. Dennis won.

So when did you meet up with Fishhead the first time?

It must have been ’02 when I either invited myself or he asked me to try a day on the MN River with him. Ended up with one channel for the day. I don’t recall who caught the dinner size whisker.

I might be wrong on the year, I was the first person to ride in his second River Pro. I’m sure it’s the one that you popped the stink in.

Jeez I don’t remember…Somewhere around ’05’ I do remember I learned the difference between drop the anchor and toss the anchor my first night. I was really wondering how I a musky guy at the time ended up running through the darkness at full speed with this whiskered up guy in a ragged old flannel. Little did I know the next couple years would be some of the most fun I have ever had. From bouncing the River Pro off of EVERYTHING and learning about rivers; it was awesome and I thank Dennis for that big time. What I learned on all those trips is the reason I do so well with the Sturgeon now…and I learned to snif everything in the boat, a very valuable tool.
