OK, when you guys are using fatheads for sturgeon do you just lip hook 3-4 of them or do you cut them in pieces or do you do something else?

I just take 4 or 5 and stick them on the hook. I try to poke a couple in the belly and others in areas where they won’t die too quickly. Wiggling is good.

There are some days when fatheads are all that seem to work, other days it’s crawler and other day a small slice of sucker. Some combine fatheads with a crawler too.

The only bait that hasn’t worked good for me at all this year is a sucker that’s been dead. Good for channel bait, but hasn’t worked well for sturgies at all.

No…a sucker that’s been floating in my bait tank dead. Turned white.

    I guess I haven’t used frozen sucker.

I like to smash/slice/scale 3 fatheads on a hook and then add a 4th and possible 5th lively fathead hooked through the lips.
