I just read an interesting article in Wisconsin Outdoor News on Wolf River Flatheads. It tells how the DNR has been tracking these large females. Some have traveled up to 70 miles and return back to the same log each year to lay eggs under the root ball end of the tree. Sounds like these trees with large root balls are an important habitat for spawning flatheads. Good reading if you get Wisconsin Outdoor News.
