I’m looking for a triple duty spinning reel that won’t cost an arm an a leg. By triple duty I mean it will be used for cats, muskies, and sturgeon if i get that lucky. The old reel is getting tossed as the superbraid i used cut into the spool eye on the reel. Any good suggestions that wont break the bank?

I like these for my channel cats. Going strong on year 5.

I think for muskies or sturgeon you are better served with a bait caster as there won’t be enough line on this one.

    Daiwa

    Daiwa TDA2500

You can also get them in a bigger size. This will give you an idea. I got four of them on eBay. They r super smooth with a great drag system

Try eBay from a good deal on 1. Mine were around $70

Get a Daiwa Hardbodyz, great gear system for a great price. Will outlast any Shimano.

    OKUMA AVENGER AV-65A SPINNING
    OKUMA AVENGER ABF-65 BAITFEEDER SPINNING

These are $42 and $50 at catfishconnection.com I don’t use the baitfeeder, but if you like that sort of thing, these are good reels and that’s a pretty good price for it.

If you want to go a little more pricey, go with the Epixors – they’re dreamy .

The 90s are too big, the 65s are perfect for flatheads.

I like the Salt Striker baitfeeder I picked up this year as well. Nice reel (basically it’s an Okuma Epixor).

If you’re not worried about a baitfeeder, about any solid heavy duty spinning reel is nice; I like an oversized line roller. I got an old Quantum Iron that’s nice as well.

Any reason you’re not looking at baitcasters? Abu Garcia 5600/6500/7000 or Trion 6.6 are nice reels as well…I’m using spinning a little more lately, but I always have a baitcaster…like the straight line pull for bigger fish…

I agree with FlatheadWI – the Okuma Avenger is a great reel. I use the ABF baitfeeder model – I don’t use the baitfeeder that much but I like having the option. I think from now on all I will buy is the baitfeeder model. I also have the Salt Striker ABF and it is a great reel too.
