I also found that the “super uni-knot” was about twice as hard to tie (especially in the dark).

    “Fog Horn”

    We don’t know that.

From the PowerPro web site. If these guys don’t know that’s the strongest…who does?

I would think they…PowerPro could back up their advertising claim…but I don’t know that either.

I would contend that what’s easier to tie would be up the the experience of the person tying the knot. For me, I could snell a hook in the dark before wrapping a Palomar. I’m guessing it would be stronger than both other knots. (where’s that fog horn?)

How does that work again? If your sinker and swivel are already on the tag end of the line, doesn’t the line have to be cut and retied in order with a Palomar?

    Bottom line?

No matter what knot is stronger, people are going to tie what they are comfortable with…no matter what the data (or video) says….besides…it’s more about the location than the knot.

Well we might not know that but I do know that. For myself personally that is. For me its no contest which is easier.

If you want to do a double twist with a flip and spin 7 times with an added square knot and then weld it with some glue….who really cares. But when talking about strength in knots, if the line breaks instead of the knot. It doesn’t matter what you tie. That is the bottom line.

The best knots (there are several) when tied correctly are a heads up tie and that Versus segment is bunk.

Palomar here. I can tie one in the dark with the lights off. Try to do that with a UNI (another good knot but not for this for me)

I do it all the time Kev…the regular uni that is. Heck if you go back to 2002 or 03 I was talking about practicing them in the garage with my eyes shut.

    no right
    no wrong

    just personal preferences

For Braid you can go with

    Uni
    Super Uni “fish n fool”
    SanDiego Jam
    Orvis
    Palomar

    They all will work fine.
