Got the old boat up and out this year. Having a BLAST getting them big flat heads. Think it is time to get a new locator / fishfinder U know U cant get fish with out 1 makes me wonder why I got so manny when I was a kid with out 1. Just a 12′ boat and a 2 1/2 sea horse.OOPS side tracked what I got now is a hummingbird wide eye 100. By the way the boat grew 4 1/2 foot and the motor grew 2 more cyl.and 47 1/2 hp. What locators should I go with

It really depends how much you want to spend? If you want GPS/Sonar Combo I would probably go with a Lowrance 520 -522C. Or a Hummingbird 778C, Both really good units. Cheap and all the perks other than bigger screens.

Do you want the fishfinder to have GPS, or sonar only?

How much are you willing to spend? That will narrow it down greatly and make it a lot easier to help find a good option for you.

scrape up another couple hundred and get the color huminbird with the gps. They are great units and boat position and finding spots and map chips for those are all important for catfishing. You only live once.

Scrape up another couple hundred bucks? That almost doubles his budget

Since he said he didn’t need a GPS, I’m guessing he already has one, in that case there are some good options for a “sonar only” unit for around $300. I bet Wade can suggest a few.

Agreed – if you don’t need a GPS unit on it, you have a LOT of options under 300.00. If I remember right, Fleet Farm had them in their weekly ad on sale.

I think they had one Hummingbird on sale for around 80.00 brand new.

I suggest this Eagle Fishmark 480 in that price range. Been a great unit for a lot of folks.

I like the Eagle Fishmark 320 I got quite a lot, it was only $149.00… I reccomend sticking with Eagle/Lowrance, just personal preference.

An Eagle Fish Mark 480 w speed/temp would be nice at around $240 (I’ve seen the 480 with temp for $200). Cabela’s also has Eagle 640C w 5″ display on sale for 369.99 on sale right now…or you can get a FishEasy 350C for a little over $200, but it only has a 3.5″ display.
