This one measured 47.5 x 34. It bottomed out a 50 lb scale. We looked at various charts and formulas and guess she weighed from the high 50’s to the mid 60’s. It was caught on Pool 3.

June 23, 2009 at 2:40 pm #785999According to the Flathead Weight Conversion Table that fish at 47″ X 34″ = 58.9 lbs. With this one measuring 47.5″ long I would put that at just about 60 lbs. Biggest fish I’ve seen in a while. From the pictures it looks like you got him during daylight. Would you share the time of day you caught it? Early morning or evening?

I would guess that the 34” girth is maxed out on that fish until it gets a little taller. Even at 52” that is a big girth and that’s about what it would take….52×34
I would love to see that fish again in 7-10yrs. Definite record potential and like Steve said while it may not be the longest, with that 34” girth it is the heaviest fish I’ve seen in a long time come from these parts.
In comparison terms, you can relate catching that fish to a
15lb walleye
or
50lb Musky
or
4.5lb CrappieIn other words a very rare fish!
