No Longer A Catfish Virgin

After going on several catfishing trips with my father(rodman)I was getting tired of coming home empty-handed. After fishing another spot for awhile, Dad told me we could try one more spot or we could pack up and go home. By this point I was feeling like a bad luck charm because on our previous spots Dad had caught a lot of catfish when I wasn’t there, but I reluctantly agreed to try. Heading to a rocky bend on the Blue Earth river, I wasn’t really expecting fish but then again Dad knows his stuff so I tagged along. Setting my rod up by the river with a sigh I threw my gob of nightcrawlers in. After not getting anything I switched to dipbait which dad had gotten a bite on.Not five minutes later, I got a bite. Being so excited with my first hard bite I set the hook so hard I nearly hit my father with a 2 Oz sinker. A little more energetic now, I tossed back in right off the bank. Ten minutes later, with coaching from dad, I caught my first Channel Cat . Ecstatic,I went on to catch 2 more including the largestof the trip.We came home with 6 and subsequently ate 6.I was just happy to no longer be a Catfish Virgin.

Sounds like you had a great time…and a memorable one too!

I’ve all but forgotten about the Blue Earth River! There’s some good under used fishing!

I’ve fished with your dad and he knows his stuff. Keep watching and listening, it won’t be long and you’ll be passing it along to a new virgin!
