It was a slow night for me last night. first 2 spots = 0 runs. number three was the ticket. pulled my personal best. 57 pounds. not any other runs. up until this point, my girlfriend has the biggest fish between us (thanks to BK), finally I have regained that title. I know, no need to poke fun of the gloves, but after the day a little 20 pounder shredded my skin, I swallowed my pride and sported the gloves.

Ummm your Favorite Girl friend didn’t wear gloves.

Well, it looks like she taught you well (except for the gloves)

57 pounds is totally awesome Wade!

And if a fish that barely puts up more of a fight than a sheephead, then walleye is for you.

    Oh behave!

That is one monster cat! Congrats! There are a couple slabs of bacon on that girl.

Thanks on the congrats! to answer a few questions…yes, i did give brian some alone time with her. this backfired on me. now she wants to stay with me forever, and even if i did want to get rid of her, i would have no hope! I dont know what he does to women, but if you are having relationship troubles, just send the women for a few hours with BK, and she will come running back!

i did measure it and it was 47 in. long and 34.5 in. girth. i weighed it on the standard berkley digital scale. 59.2 pounds in the net, minus the 2.2 lbs net = 57 lbs. I caught it on the standard 3 oz no-role on 1/0 hook. I had just ordered and recieved a spool of 80 lbs power pro and had just respooled before I went out. glad I did! i was also using 50 lbs mono for a leader. old moldy bullhead was the teaser. my bullheads got a bad case of fugas in the whole batch. maybe it just adds extra flavor!

a 1/0 hook or a 10/0 hook? was your rod white, black, or in between? wow, once again, that is a nice fish, a 34.5 inch girth is ginormous.

Great fish. I would get rid of that 50lb mono leader. No reason for it that I can think of. And walleye guy obviously doesn’t know how to catfish if he can sleep while doing it.

If it ain’t broke no need to fix. I personally use mono leaders… I know a lot that don’t.
I’ve never had mine fail with more than a few over 40lb.
I think in the rivers it can give a little abrasion resistance as well as a tiny bit of give when needed.
