It FELT like a bullhead!

What a great night to be on the river!

Not much of a breeze with a bit of fall in the air! Sweatshirts and light jackets kept a person comfortable tonight.

The water temp was about 62 degrees and the location we fished tonight really didn’t have much flow at all. Any type of breeze pushed the boat up stream and in a couple locations, we ended up using a back anchor.

Tonight I had two great guys in the boat with me, Jessy and John. John just finished fishing the FLW Tour and had many good, humorous stories to tell about his adventures with the Pros. He said he learned a bunch about fishing for eyes.

I’ll I know about Jessy is that he like catching fish by bridges.

Our first fish came on Jessy’s side of the boat. I heard the line out alarm and side here we go Jessy! Jessy picked up the rod and after a minute or so said…”all I feel is the bullhead”. I thought that was odd…but once in a while a bully will take out some line. When I saw the PowerPro closer to the boat than it was originally… I figured I better recast and check the bullhead too. As I started to reel, two other rods started bending and we heard sounds of the clickers. Without feeling it, I knew there was a fish on the other end and it swam across the other two lines.

Jessy reeled in the 25+ walleye along with two other lines.

So that was the quote of the night…“It Felt Like A Bullhead”.

Here’s a pick of the walleye release.

Ok, here’s a photo of Jessy and his bullhead. Notice the smile on his face? Remember that image.

John got into the act..all I remember John saying was that it’s fighting better than a bullhead.

John started the flats with a 9 pounder. Put a nice smile on his face!

Jessy wasn’t going to be out done and wanted us to get passed the whole bullhead thing.

We did kind of forget about that when he set the hook on this 22 pounder but forgot to engage the reel on the bait caster. I’ll look at that mess tomorrow.

Jessy had a nice fight with this guy.

Notice the expression on his face? …and all because I wouldn’t let him wear gloves!

Thanks for the fun night guys! I’m sitting here eating my microwave rice at 1 am and still giggling!

Way to go guys and Jessy don’t worry about bk ripping on you he is just jealous that no one takes a picture of him bent over the side of the boat Looks like a great start to the catfishing season Did you guys use that walleye for cut bait I bet if you did you would have found that 60 pounder I would have just casted that walleye back out there you know there are big enough fish around to gulp that thing up.

Probably because a baitcaster doesn’t have a bail. Or is that the joke?

He is just hiding his smile because he doesn’t want his friends to know how much fun catfish are.

That was a trick that Roland Martin taught me. It gives you more control of your cast.

Bought a rod this weekend for the baicaster. I not only checked the guides, but the label said baitcaster as well. All is good.
