That is a nice flat Dan

    BrianK and Larry thanks!

Actually Brian I do not think I do. Maybe a couple weeks back but now I do not think I do. When using 11.875″ suckers, and sinking the bait right in structure, you would think 6ozs is needed just to keep the sucker in place. It does not move with 6ozs but I feel it would not move right now with 5 or maybe even 4. All I can say though is when the sucker started to perk up before the flat grabbed it, 3oz’s would have been drug right in the snag . I also have cornered the market in 6oz bank sinkers (got a tray full ) and have been keeping my 3, 4, 5 no-rolls, banks and flats for other locations (which I am limited on at the moment).

I am from Princeton MN sir and this flat was caught on the MN river.

    Thanks again guys!

…and pulling a 50 out is impressive! Nothing like PowerPro in that case!

My old rusty spring scale showed 60…

But it may need to be re-calibrated

Did you measure it or did you use a scale on it?

    Congates Jerry!!

Just think, it would have been a 50 if caught on a black rod.

    Very nice fish and photo!

A juvenile from your guys’ perspective, but tons of fun on light tackle.

2009 has turned into a great flathead year on the St Croix and we have a lot of season left to go. I’ve got these 4 nice fish this spring plus a number of smaller ones.

Thought I’d throw this photo in this thread as well. 34 lbs, 40″. Nice little fight on light walleye jigging tackle. Good surprise for my buddy to get a “bonus” PB flathead while trying to put a few eyes in the boat.

Thanks to Jason Halfen for an excellent day on the water! If anyone is looking for a VERY educational day on the water, book the professor. Thanks again!!

We joked around about getting a replica mount made, but it actually would be a pretty sweet little work of art for the bar room!! Sink a bottle opener in the maw, and you’re all set!
