Hate to be a tease but…

    Sturgeon tag #86,197
    55″ Length x 22″ Girth

Buddy Adam with a big boy!
His first time Sturgeon fishing, HIS first 3 Sturgeon were all over 50″!

    Here was the BIG DOUBLE!!

In the Right Corner… its Adam!

In the Left Corner… its WasteWaterGuru!

Who’s the winner? 57″ for WWG & 58″ for Adam! Unbelievable!

Last night… one for the road!

Adam stole the show as a first time sturgeon fisherman should. His first 3 fish were over 50 inches and ended up with a 55″, 56″, 57″, and 58″ for the trip for HIMSELF! Fish hog, eh?

Thank you, thank you, thank you Wigwam staff for putting on another unforgettable event. While fishing down for our boat this year, we made up for it with laughs and lies. Here is a sampling of my pics. It was great to see everyone and meet many new friends!!

Thanks Kooty! You will notice the classic sturgeon fighting pose…knees slightly bent, back tilted ever so slightly…ready to pounce from one side of the boat to the other at a moments notice!

Here is the “How to find your Anchor rope when you lose it” post.

When your partner tosses the anchor out, and your boat passes a number of boats like your anchor isn’t even out…it probably isn’t! So Kooty says “Not a problem!” “I have another!” so out it goes, and Kooty commences to backing up…and the motor kills! Kooty figures he backed over the second anchor rope!! Problem was, his partner was still holding the rope! Kooty backed over the first one he thought he lost! You can see it wrapped around his prop! So what do you do? You fish backwards in the river for a while! Hey, what the heck…the anchor was holding!

After finally fixing the situation he looked over with that look of disbelief that it really happened….and then started to catch fish!

    It sure was fun!

Our group spent the first 2 days up river and had a blast, and we had the place to ourselves. The fishing was a little slow but it only takes a few big ones to make it a great day on the water and some sore arms It was a great time and fun to see everyone again.

A few that Aquajoe, N8, and myself brought to the boat. Notice the change in clothing from the pout photo (Thursday) to the sturgeon photos (Friday).

I will have to say “Barney” and I had a good time. We met some new people, had a few beers (not as many as some) and saw some things that will haunt me for a long time (Farmboy).

The fishing was slower than last year but we ended up with 3 decent fish, a 48″ for Barney a 46″and new PB of 56″ for myself.

Here are a few of ours from the Excursion. Thanks again to Wigwam, the IDO staff who put it all together, but expecially the members who make it what it is. Good times, old friends and new friends….what could be better

Even the rednecks from SD caught some fish. The biggest was 62, my uncle Keith got on Thursday night. They had to head out early as he wasn’t feeling well and with the weather forecast. Turns out he has pneumonia, good thing he did get home.

He called me on the cell while fighting that big fish, “hey get down here, this thing is half as long as my boat”. I looked up and saw him dancin’! We ran down and handed off the net.

It was great to see some old friends and family, wish they could have stayed longer!!

    Hope he’s feeling better Kooty.

It was fun meeting your relatics!

I was reciting one of your stories at the bar over dinner with the favorite family. The FW asked “who was this?”, I said Kooty and from across the bar said “That’s MY nephew!”

    Good times!

I told him it was all lies and I have video to prove it.

Two years ago, we are headed up river to a spot. We pass a boat with a dude on the phone. He yells out, “Hey, are you Kooty?” I’m thinking, do I lie….Wondering what I did of course. It ends up he is talking to a friend of mine from the cities. He told him to look for the loudest guy on the river that doesn’t stop talking. I think that is a compliment.
