You sure do hold Ashley’s fish nicely Jake.
I bet that one made you grunt!
November 3, 2009 at 7:17 pm #8136915.75# on Chicken liver, just south of 694 on the Mississippi from shore.
November 3, 2009 at 7:38 pm #813697Scary Jeff caught this one on our outing with BK, same as the sturgeon pics from the other thread. It weight about 7.5# and was about 25″ or so.
It was also very tasty.
November 4, 2009 at 4:09 pm #813910Nice fish Jared, those are my old stomping grounds where my bro introduced me to catfishing. We used to actually fish right behind the 694 pillars. Although, I don’t remember there being a porch.
November 4, 2009 at 7:50 pm #813952HAH! Nice, Mike… thanks. My fish was caught in the park at the end of Bass Lake Road, about 200 yards downstream of the 694 bridge, fishing from the fishing pier (that’s 20 feet off the water heh). Scary Jeff’s fish was caught on Pool 4 out of Briank’s boat about 200 yds downstream from the dam.
I got it into my head to try for some cats early last year, so I took my biggest rod down to the river and there was this big bullet-headed dude down there fishing… he gave me some real sinkers and a decent hook. That’s how I met Scary Jeff, and we’ve been best buds ever since. That’s one reason I love fishing… I’ve made some of my best friends ever that way.

So much for my secret spot. Now Stuart will be sitting on it.

Ah ha! Now I know where to fish
November 4, 2009 at 8:35 pm #813959I’ve been on that pier, but never fished it. You ever try dropping it in the wood tangle there when the water is high enough?

Ouch! That hurt!
I couldn’t do that to anyone. I have snagged enough rebar in my life to not wish it on anyone. Plus, the water is pretty cold to be swimming rebar in bunches out in the middle of the river.November 4, 2009 at 10:46 pm #813992

Thanks for clarifying.
Now I don’t have to ask you who caught that sturgeon your releasing in your avatar.
November 5, 2009 at 3:07 am #814064Caught? The line is in the upper right corner. I just wanted proof one was on my line once.
November 6, 2009 at 2:34 am #814284Hey BK and cat guys. How big is this one? I usually chase bass so this is an anomaly. This a good one? My arms were a little tired but I got it in on 6 lb test. So self respecting muskie would allow to be harnessed by such light tackle.. Looks decent to me but I have no idea.
November 6, 2009 at 3:45 am #814295In my book Steve, no less than 29, no more than 35. Others may very…however, using the tackle you caught it on….my weight index says 47.5 minimum.
November 6, 2009 at 1:57 pm #814346first big cat I ever tied into. power was unreal. a little frustrating when you gain 20 ft and with one flick of that tail you lose 30. did you notice no gloves. you are right. those things are beautiful.
