Steve and Bret call it Drifting…but I like Dragging better.
I had some time tonight, so I rigged up a rod for drag’n the Steve DeMars rig. I started out at the Y just upstream of Evers Resort. With the current, I could actually stop on the water using the trolling motor. Not haveing any wind help too.
I was still down stream of the first wing dam by several hundered feet, just in the slacker water. I felt a tap tap on the end of the rod and slowed the trolling motor down. Since I was using circle hooks, I just tighted up on her….then WHAM! She darn near took the rod out of my hands. I was thinking flathead because I didn’t feel the typical channel cat roll and she had some weight to her.
Once netted and in the boat, the scale read 15.75…..a quarter pound larger than the FW’s from last night…sorry punkie!
I have the picture on my camera that I can only down load once I’m home…so the photo will have to wait until tomorrow.
OK…Ok…the fish weighed 15 pounds on the nose…1/2 pound smaller than yours FW. You’re still the woman.
