This was invented by my Favorite Wife…Patent Pending.
Most people listen for the line out alarms, the sometimes distinctive noise of the rod holder…the odd movement of the line in the water.
Nope not my FW. The rod she was talking about was behind me and generally I have a view of the rod tip in my peripheral vision. Last night I was getting a rig set up and she says to me…”hon, why is that rod handle moving?” I, of course look at the tip which is bending just not enough to make the line out alarm go off. 
Later she said the “handle” move three times before she asked me why it was moving.
So there you go guys, forget about the tip…watch your rod handles. 
PS The FW always knows how to put a smile on my face.
