My clients and I set up about 8:30 last night and then the weather radio started going off.
Before launching, I checked the radar and the only storm I could see was up North…North of the Twin City’s. The weather radio started talking about norther counties including Anoka…so I wasn’t too concerned. Then they started talking about Apply Valley and Eagan. I figured I would move out closer to an area that we could see any approaching weather..but before I could get ready the sirens went off in the direction of Hastings.
This was enough to make the two young ladies I had out nervous and the trip was called…by the time we made it to the main channel, the sirens in WI where going off and the lightning was lighting up the sky with some bolts in the distance, but too close for comfort. We would have left sirens or no sirens. George the lock operator had the gates to the lock open and the green light on when we came around the corner.
Once at the Everts docks the wind picked up a bit and we had a smattering of rain. In hind sight, we could have stayed out…but being safe trumps being sorry every time!
I heard reports of 50 to 6 mile per hour winds in Apple Valley to Woodbury.
Are all of you tourney guys ok??
