Has anyone found a good way to get the shad scales of of reels and rods? Mine are plastered, and it’ll take forever to scrape them all off with my fingernail!

Try spraying them with a water bottle to soften them up,might work.

It is a great look of a custom rod. If you bought one like that you would have to pay extra so just leve em on.

Good luck! Just leave them on. It adds character.

There’s no way I’m leaving them on there. Now if you want that custom rod look, I’ll sell

I usually just soak the rod/reel and scrub away. I don’t mind them on the rod, but the line can get caught if they build up on the reel. Gotta love those shiners.

Warm water, Dawn for dishes and a tooth brush. Works very well.

…Just remember to put your wife’s brush back before she notices it missing.

I just take the business side of a sponge (the green scrubby side) and rub away. Seems to work real well for me, it also makes your cork handles look brand new. Any other help cleaning hints, you will have to ask Martha Stewart

Well, I got a start on it. For the rods, I soaked them in soapy water and used a sponge and my fingernail. The abrasive scrubby thing on the back of the sponge worked well on the handles, but it will dull the finish of your rods, so I would avoid it on the actual blanks.
