I checked out the Hewescraft web site to see what you ladies are talking about. Those are some sweet boats. They even have a river running jetboat for the Minni! Gotta love a boat with lots of room on the river.

Hey Pug! They like to take people with them when they go. So if you need a seat sometime drop them a line. Like I said they are new to the area and everyone likes meeting people.
October 16, 2007 at 12:30 am #616872Yeah, they go out on the water with me and begin questioning why they moved here. I may have to drop them a line. Fishing in one of those would be very nice. Jarrett’s ride was pretty nice too. None of those goofy seats bass guys like to use. Do you know what model it is?

Yeah the big black model! I have no idea I’d have to look up the page and look at the models. I suppose one could IM walleyehunter2 and introduce theirself and say hi and inquired about the boat Just an idea
October 16, 2007 at 5:45 pm #617065Can you ask them if they like me?
I feel like I am in middle school all over again! I guess a PM is kind of like a note with a check box.
October 16, 2007 at 10:18 pm #617200They dont know you. Gotta introduce yourself thats what I did. On a positive note Touh did ask why you got picked on so much. He though you caught a lot of crap on here.

For anyone who has enjoyed the company of pug more than once…
They may argue the point and say he doesnt quite receive enough

So they should respond.
Pug’s a great guy…if I would have had a son, I would have hoped that he would have grown up just like Pug’s brother.
October 17, 2007 at 1:24 pm #617359The most common first question I get from people on the boards when I meet them in person….”Do you get a lot of nasty PMs?”
He/They responded to my PM and I checked out the model online. That is a niiice rig. They also were quick to point out the boat was being putting away for the season….and to never PM them again.October 17, 2007 at 10:20 pm #617509Pug one of these days your going to have to let everyone in on your little secret…who you really are and how many fish you really catch.
October 18, 2007 at 1:17 am #617548Man I hope you’re kidding? Sounds like you don’t make friends as easy as me if that’s true. Either way Touh and his wife are cool with me. I got along with his brother and him great and am looking forward to getting them out to my parents lake sometime this coming summer.
You have to love a site (IDA) that lets you make so many friends this quick. I think I’ve met more great people over this past summer than I have the whole 5 years I’ve lived in the metro all together.I’m looking forward to Touh teaching me some of his secrete fish recipies too if I can get him to give them up
Thanks for the great summer fishing everyone. Don’t be shy over the winter!!!

October 18, 2007 at 2:10 am #617567Life…when you read Pug’s post…always have a couple pounds of salt.
If you read all of Pug’s posts…he’s always kidding..except when it comes to catch and release…although he doesn’t have much experience at either….he says.
Now as for making friends from IDA…
I’m certainly not one of the original crew. I saw a web site decal at a local marina and checked it out. Lurked for a couple months…but once I saw the comrodory of these guys..felt comfortable posting.
These guys have been trying to shut me up ever since!
All the guys and gals in the cat forum have helped me get on some pretty darn nice cats. Steve DeMarrs turned me on to sturgeon fishing by accident while ice fishing. I’ll never forget the cork handle in my hand with the graphite rod at a 90 degree angle from the cork!
SteveO. put me on my first targeted 25 lbs muskie…that was way cool!
Turk made a St Croix ice walleye believer out of me. That guy can smell a fish a mile away.
Mike and the guys from Hooked on Fishing in Rochester…sweet gills on the Zumbo.
Stillakid2 for ducking in time while pulling a jig from a tree. Glad Steve Plantz was slow with the camera that day!
Don Hanson…pheasant hunting in WI and showing the the ropes on fishing P4 for walleye/sauger.
Cory Walleye Waller, Slider, Lip Ripper for not letting Tuck shoot me last winter pheasant hunting…
I just realize I can not name them all!
Jake the official Zumbro Guide.
Nope…just go to the MEMBERS section and start reading through them. All great people that make his the best site on the net.
I owe everything to the folks on IDA.
Now after a group hug…I’m not going back to read this…because it’s too sappy and I’ll delete it.
Did I mention MikeW was the first guy from IDA I went fishing with..and he put on a casting demo…”Watch this” he said..he was going to show my how accuratly he could cast a jig by bouncing it off the back of a beached turtle…but hooked it!
Guess you needed to be there!
October 18, 2007 at 2:14 am #617568How about when I brought the wrong beer while fishing with Lenny??
Ok…that’s enough.
But then there was the time that a channel cat made Dean from Everts swear…out loud! Dang near took a $300. St Croix into the drink.
Sorry…nuff old home days.
October 18, 2007 at 3:01 am #617581Life…. I hear you.
It was great meeting you this summer when you introduced yourself to Fisher Dave and myself on the Miss under the 35W bridge. (Before the collapse.)
A tip of the hat to all the mates that I’ve met on IDA over the last years.
Like they say birds of a feather “CAT” together.
Lame I know………. but hey cat guys aren’t known for being cool…… Okay I speak for my self….
October 18, 2007 at 10:24 am #617600Yeah I hear you all. I guess through out the summer I couldn’t figure out why Bob Moore was saying wait until the end of the season to see how excited that everyone gets for the next season being I was new to all this. Now I’m figuring out why. It’s not even over and I don’t want it to end. Although I am looking forward to trying ice fishing the first time.
October 18, 2007 at 2:11 pm #617678I was absolutely kidding. He did say he was putting the boat away soon for the winter, but hoped to see me out next spring when walleye opens. Yeah right! Although I wouldn’t mind catching one of those monsters I see people catching on bullies. Not that I’d ever turn down a walleye trip either. I can’t think of any fish I would turn my nose up at.
Like Larry and Brian said, I owe a lot to the people on these boards. Dave taught me flathead fishing. Without this board, I probably never would have gone sturgeon fishing. As much as I love catching fish as the next guy, I enjoy coming to the boards and seeing other people’s catches too. I’ve said it for 2 years now, but next year I am getting out more. My projects are coming to completion and will be completed by next spring I plan on doing it with fellow IDAers too (If they can tolerate me).
Brian, there is no wrong beer, I don’t care what anyone says. Wait, I take that back. 3.2 and NA no good!
Yeah, it’s getting to be that time of the year. We all get mushy and sappy about the season that is winding down.
Eat Small, Release Big!

Sorry, I don’t swing that way. I might consider fishing with you, though.

Only from a Johnnie
I am in the same boat Pug. Late summer and a new place on the water , a ton of work to do, not enough time in the day, and fishing suffers
But the one thing I will say about IDA, I have never met someone from here in person who was a dink, well maybe Audemp .
Seriously though, everybody has been great, and when this place is done, there are quite a few guys who I need to get out with, for the first time, or again. Anyone interested in some cold weather walleye/sauger on P4

Don’t get me started on the things I’ve heard about the HuskiesQuote:

If you show me the ropes, I’d be interested…October 18, 2007 at 2:53 pm #617696I am usually good about double checking my posts for open doors. But I am glad you got the dig in before BK, although I am sure he’ll put his 2 cents in!
Rule #1, never say poles unless it is preceded by fishing.
Technically I am not a Johnny. They even stopped sending alumni “donation” requests, but I think that’s just because they never got my forwarding address.
As for Huskies and St. Cloud. That was the best riot I ever participated in. Ok, it was the only one. And technically is a bunch of drunk people a riot? Don’t you need a cause or something?

I can send you mine if you want

I will have to get a hold of you come January. If you like the water to yourself, and BSing with Dean when you need a little warmth, it is great

Will you be changing your display name to Mplsally?
JANUARY??
The channels are on a tear right now…and the sauger bit is just warming up. A decent chance at a flathead too.
What are you guys waiting for? Mudpuppy migration??
October 18, 2007 at 11:41 pm #617870I just checked the weather and Saturday looks like another beautiful fall fishing day. Croixer had a good idea for tomorrow night, but because of the Sally thing, I don’t have the energy. Works killing me.
I am getting out Saturday for sure though.October 19, 2007 at 10:23 am #617945Just about everyday it’s nice and I have bait I get out. Thankfull I can stop by Moore’s on the way home from work and then the river is at the end of the block here. So I’m all good about whenever I feel like it.
BK speaking of MUDPUPPIES I wish I would have taken a picture but thats what was the first thing we boated. Walleyehunter2 caught one. It was wierd apparently they too like shad.
October 19, 2007 at 11:30 am #617959I don’t know anything about them…just that they must migrate about this time of year.
Pool 4 has the invasion about now. Tap tap tap…set hook..nothing…put the rod back in the holder….tap tap tap…set the hook…nothing…only to reel up and have a puppy holding on to the bait.
Wonder if a guy could go into commercial sales of them?? They would make an awesome appitiser!
I’ll have a combo appitiser please. Squid, onion rings, deep fried mushrooms and…deep fried…Golden Lobster…(marketing name of Mudpuppies)
October 19, 2007 at 1:45 pm #618013You forgot the unagi, although the harvest seemed a little low this year.
River at the end of the block? Not fair. The closest for me is Blackdog or as I like to call it, the place I never catch fish.

We put 11 of the beauties in the boat 2 trips ago. I love it when you can’t even see any portion of a 3/0 hook.
