The warm weather was nice last night, so Steph’s brother-in-law and I hit the river in search of some channel cats. He’s a newbie to the cat scene, so I schooled him in the art of catching cats We were scared off the river about 10:00 by some wicked lightning, but I landed 3 solid channel cats. I started the night with a 29″, followed by an obese 31″x21″, and finished the night off with a 28″. Keith manned the net and camera for me, and hooked into his first-ever sturgeon right before we high-tailed (as much as you can high-tail it with a 6 horse Yamaha ) it out of there. I went home catching a new personal-best channel cat, too!

Sounds like a good time! Very nice cats! Thanks for the report.

How big was the sturgeon(ignoring other heated post)?

Nice fish Ryan..I was a bit worried about you staying out later than we did…but the storm pretty much missed us anyway.

I was out today…and anchored right on top of a turtle nest I think.
13 hits that bent the rods over all to feel the weight fall off the hook. I’ve never had that happen before. Not one fish in the boat.

I’m thinking the FW has the same curse Pug does.

The pic states the size??? Looks like a shovel nose to me… but I could be wrong.

Nope, it was a little lake sturgeon. The section between the body and tail is much thinner on a shovelnose.

Nice fish Ralph. That one is really chunky looking with it’s belly oozing through your fingers.

Brian, show your wife some respect.

LOL…. This little bugger was bouncing my rod tip for the better part of 20 min. He was so small that I couldn’t tell what was going on. Every time I checked…..Seemed like nothing…. When I finally reeled in it as
WWG and I had a good laugh over it.
    PB no….. good for laughs….

The little dude gave me a nice cut that was painful for 5 days. That was the first attempt with out gloves and the rag.
We really wanted the picture so I made due with materials at hand.
