Realtor Ron was kind enough to share his replica sturgeon with us here at the resort and is on display. The fish was caught in 1968 on the mighty Chippewa River and was 79 inches long and estimated at 103#.Thanks for sharing this Ron!Awesome fish!

Awesome! I didn’t know they even made replicas for the sturgeon species….think it’s the only one I have ever heard of.

Dean when you say Chippewa River are you talking below the Dam in Eau Claire. I remember when I was really young a guy caught a 100+ pound sturgeon and it ripped the guts out of his reel, or it snapped his rod and he still landed the fish. I remember seeing it on the corner of Madison and Barstow with a bunch of people staring at it. Ok I’m done going down memory lane now. Oh nevermind I just reread it and it said 1968 not 1978. I’ll just go work on my honey do list now

Personally got a close look at that monster on Dean’s wall and the photos don’t do the size of this thing justice.

    Very nice fish!!

Was fun talking walleyes with you Dean! The rod will get a workout this weekend… I hope.

We talked cats too! We also talked about you as well, but this is a family site so I don’t think I’ll be able to repeat it.

Nice fish Ron! And nice to meet you a couple of weekends ago. Dean if you get anymore fish like that in the shop you won’t have room for the tackle!

That is huge! I might have to take a drive down and look at that thing one day soon!

1968…. I am trying to visualize what kind of fishing pole set up that was caught on? Solid glass rod with a monster baitcaster or early spinning reel? Another 10 years earlier it may have been a metal rod with a knuckle-cracker baitcaster(ouch)

That picture doesn’t do it justice is the understatement of the YEAR…

You have to see this thing in person! I realized that I was standing there looking at it with my mouth open.

    Thanks for sharing Mr. RR!

You compare it to the person, no it doesn’t look as big as 100+. Then you look at those bait buckets and you realize how big she really is!

If you guys haven’t seen this in person yet…it’s worth a Sunday afternoon drive down to the Redwing area…about 45 minutes from St Paul.

EVERYONE that walks into the bait shop is drawn to it like a magnet.

This Sturgeon reminds me of the one…I’m going to catch!

Those bait buckets don’t even look real when they are next to that thing!
