But it sure is fun fishing around a group of friends…just to harass them if nothing else.

We werent quite in *the group*, everyone was just upstream of our boat.

It was entertaining watching 100’s of 20′- 45′ cruisers traveling from 2 – 60 mph zig-zagging through the armada of porcupine boats spread across the entire width of the river! I dont think the wind exceeded 10 mph all day long, but I dont think there was a time after 11 a.m.(before that it was all the Beanies walleye and bass boat guys, yes, trolling 20′ from my boat is too close!) the waves were less than 1′ tall… or ever coming from a predictable direction.

I didnt yell at anyone all day besides a wake juping jet-skier that started to get way too close regularly.

I wonder how many gallons of fuel per minute were burned on the croix yesterday? My guess would be more than 100.

And it’s funny, the ones that came close knew it and never looked you in the eye.
It was fun when you had a fish on, there was cheering going on with the passing boats slowing down to watch.
One guy asked if it was a walleye and gave us a thumbs down when we said a sturgeon….

Another good story when we got off the water. I was trailing this boat that looked like it had a car theme. They asked if the trailer that just backed down was with me and I said, “I think so”, because you know, there are a couple black explorers on the road. She repeated, “You think so?”, kind of snotty. I was wondering why they were getting all huffy since they would have to get their trailer anyway. Well as I got closer I realized it was just a theme car, it was a amphibious car that was about the size of a mini cooper. I think they thought it was kooky-cool, but I thought it was about the stupidest thing I ever saw. The guy even had a captains cat.

Yeah, I still feel like I am rocking in a boat this morning too. I suspect we missed detecting a few bites a because of the waves.

That bullie is impressive Pug, You should have hooked up a 10/0 gami and cast him back down to see if you could catch one of those monster flats.

How did the glowstick hold up?

The Glowstick was fine. Had I hooked into anything much bigger I would have had to do a little more finesse work. My big cat rod actually caught the 39″. Now that paired up with my Okuma with a 4:1 crank really made it pretty easy on me. Well, easy except the butt of the rod digging into me.

The hat’s cool…but what is going on with that glove!

That’s the first Mirror Carp I’ve seen come out of the Croix. Nice catch!

    Nevermind the Michael Jackson look.

I’ve discovered that dipping your hand in shad juice all day is really hard on a guys fingers.

The contest was fun and was a nice day out there.

however……it’s starting to lose it’s luster to me. The cruisers, the idiots, the 3hr roundtrip drive, the bouncing around all day, the launch fee, the sunburn Days like yesterday really makes a guy appreciate the larger fish and better fishing environment on “other bodies of water”.

Pizza delivered to the dock was a bonus though

Thanks again Bob, for coordinating the event!

Frabil makes a soap in a bottle that Realator Ron turned me on to. It’s a staple next to the sink…and I have Udder Cream in the boat and next to the computer…for that dry cracked hands look Michael.

PS (don’t go there pug! )

We got a couple other decent action shots.

    Not yet!

    Ron Playing a Fish

Ron using a RC boat as a bobber?

And finally, I caught this thing but I have no idea what it is.

Need some cheese with that wine? Geez.

If it makes you feel any better,I got 3 hours of sleep, and I spent 10 more hours on the croix today through the entire cruiser brigade, and wind.

Go catch a walleye or something

I’m really looking forward to the fall walleye fishing. Cool weather, no other boats, live bait

From conversations with quite a few others, it sounds like we could use a bunch of cheese for our wine party

First person with no sins casts the first stone!

Dang guess I can’t throw a stone I complain about the boat traffic too often but I tell myself it is public water! We all can share. Once in a while I go for those bottom feeders on purpose….late fall and winter! There is a time for every fish!

Dave why did you miss the picture in “party”?
