You don’t know how close I was to handing the rod to Steph after I set the hook!!! Part of me wishes that I did, but she was happy just to witness it.

It came to the boat pretty quickly (I don’t think it knew it was hooked), then Brian says, “Twang the line, see if he’ll jump.” I plucked the line a few times, and Mrs. Sturgeon did not like that! She burned off lots and lots of drag. I’d gain a bit, and it would pull out 5 times as much on the 7000C3. It finally surfaced, and Steph and my jaws dropped!
It was a struggle to get her in (and out of) Brian’s net, but we managed. It took a good 10-15 minutes to get her swimming again when we were done with her.
Oh, and the bait? I believe Brian will be revealing his “secret bait” later today
