Much less be related……
Ya know Pam, I was thinking…since you’re working at Lock and Dam 2 & 3…maybe you should change your display name to Dam Cousin?? Whatcha think??
The FW said I didn’t ruin the artical…I haven’t seen it yet.
For those who do not get the Mn. Volunteer
So, since Brian is in this, I would have to say it is a fluff piece.
“People like to try something new in a safe environment,” he says. So why do they hire YOU as a guide?
…and KEEP takingith away!
Speaking of not very safe enviroments…Pug? How would you like to come to our family Christmas party?? I’ll have my favorite cousin bake you a pie.
Hey – with this Dam job I just might have time to learn how to bake a Dam pie!!
Mmm, I like pie. So BK’s cousin, do you have a nice viewing window at the bottom of the damn so you can see those legendary catfish. You know the ones that scare scuba divers into never doing damn repair work again.
I would like to say it’s not the cats that scare the scuba divers….but my cousin has a way of getting even…ten fold.
Hey – I’m a nice person!! I just don’t make pies!! And yes, I have a wonderful view at my Dam job – up the river, down the river and across the river. At Lock 2 we have our very own pond – full of carp. No cats. As for the scuba divers, well, they might not like cats, but carp are just as ugly. (Yes, cats are ugly!) But hey – how did this thread turn into me and my Dam pies? It’s supposed to be about the “stud” and the Volunteer article!

You don’t?? Here I thought that you just use the name Baker’s Square to get your pie tins back.
I’m a little surprised that Mpls Pug isn’t in here exchanging recipes with you.
Say, how often are you at lock 3?

You looking to fish the scour hole there Brian? And FYI, I worked a summer at Viacom. Not the media giant (Although I worked for them too), but the Baker Square pie makers.
Back to topic
Just read the article as I was making a “deposit”. Good stuff. A couple of statements made me LOL though.
1. They were using 5″ bullheads
2. An average fight is 10-15 minutes
Ok pie.
I haven’t read it…and that don’t sound like anything I would have said.
Flats are sure getting a lot of local press time this year. Good job Brian.
I shudder to think what the river might be like in 5 years the way things are going. A boat on every snag and creek mouth. But I am not in a position to complain since I’d have no clue about how to fish for them had the info not been out there. Notice I said fish for them and not catch them.
Ya know Pug, I’ve thought of that too. I doubt it will ever look like the sail boats on a Sunday afternoon on the Croix…but there will be more none the less.
The folks that learn to share areas while on the water and resources with others will do just fine.
The folks that have a problem with another cat guy within a quarter mile of them…will struggle…take up bowling…or take info from you and I and find a work around.
Lots of untapped water out there.
Well said Brian. While this is my second year chasing flats. I have spent this year learning what makes a spot a good spot. I found that myself along with many others on the river were fishing any snag or hole and any spot on that hole during the wrong time, falling water and full moon phases. Well I am still climbing the learning curve I hope to be on the downward side of it soon. I have sure enjoyed my time on the river this year although very unproductive flathead wise.
Well part of the mystique is that you could think you are in the right spot at the right time and still be skunked. I don’t think any of us will ever stop learning. Even if you could predict where they were every time, you’d still have to get them to bite and I think of all the fish, they are the most difficult to actually get to bite.

There is a downward side??
He must have had a “Ghost Writer!”
Everything was spelled corwectly!

That was a set up for sometype of smart remark…but I can’t recall what it was.
