The weather was perfect this holiday week end so I opted for a couple jars of Sonnys dip bait and put my boys on channel cat. 10ft.of water with current was key for us with fish being taken on almost every location.
I did get out for a few hours alone to try drifting cut bait with a few larger fish coming to the net. This presentation is not only effective but very relaxing as well. Thanks Bret Cark for your great reports and for explaining in detail the tactics used to boat these deep water cats.
The boat traffic was insane of course, as I am sure it was up and down the river. Mornings were best before the crowds moved in but the cat still bit even with heavy waves and prop wash in the middle of the day. A great week-end indeed seeing my two boys smiling while trying to out do the other in the”who’s is bigger” game.

    Awesome Jeff

That pic of the boys working together is priceless

Yep you are correct, it is a relaxing way to fish cats. Sippin’ suds and just bobbing along watching the sights go by

Is it me, or does Cam’s fish have a giant head! I can’t tell, but is it’s tail curling? Nice fish, looks like it was a lot of fun.

The tail must be curled or mabe it’s Cams famous rubber glove death grip that is making the head bigger
