…but I just can’t bring myself to boat up river two miles to set up shop fishing.

It wasn’t THAT many years ago weather was a “non factor”…fishing in the rain…snowmobiling in 20 below weather plus wind chill.

Picked up some shad, have some secret bait thawing in the fridg and figured I would take a bullhead or two along also.

It sucks getting old. Any of you whippersnapers make it out tonight?

    Wet weather fishing…

    Nope can’t do it!

    woosy or wise?????

You’ve been around the block enough to know that your ROI (Return on Investment) probably will not be worth it with this front moving through.

If you want to be called Woosy then we’ll obliged. But those that rush to say it…. better be out there doing it and taking a crack at them selves or take a seat and wait till this cold front shoves through.

    Smart move mate…

Last night It took 7 hours to bag one 7lb channel. It was almost a goose egg…. (we were packing up when it hit) I haven’t come across many of those this season…. (Knock on wood).

Since when has the FW started letting off your leash on Sat nights?!?!?!?!?

If the bait shop door is locked at 6 am…someone wake me up!

I hope it stops raining soon…not only do I want to get out fishing…but I want to learn how to drive a skid loader.

Based on your skills of launching a rental boat with the trailer still connected my advice would be ”don’t touch it.” [couldn’t resist bud, ].

Great to hear Dean is going to be out fishing and enjoying some vacation. Working 24/7 running a resort by yourself is very hard on your body and mind. It really wears a person out. The last time I was down talking to Dean he was cleaning out the fish cleaning house [a daily job] at 7:30 at night while his supper was cooking. Can you imagine smelling all those dead stinky fish guts while cleaning it out and then having to go eat your supper. No wonder he was in no hurry to eat his supper as that would cause a loss of appetite for sure. THANKS to all who help him to be able to get away from the resort and do some fishing himself.
    Thanks, Bill

    Wussie or Woosy?

Woosy is what happens when you have too many Vodka Tonics.

Wussie is the name you are branded with when the girls pick on you in the school yard.

Rain? Not a drop in Grand Rapids this weekend. Little chilly at night, but nice.

As far as going out in the rain, I have to say no thanks. I fish for fun. Getting wet != fun (That’s “not equal to” for you non-programmers out there). Maybe on a pontoon with a canopy.

The 27 foot pontoon left yesterday with 6 or so campers in it. They said they were planning this overnighter for a long time…and a little rain wasn’t going to stop them. Guess it didn’t.

I was putting the 24 footer away the other day and though…Steve DeMars was ahead of the curve again in getting a pontoon. Compfortable fishing in most any weather.

Steve, have you started the heater yet?

    woosy, woosie, or wussy?

The rain hasnt been that bad most of the time lately. I have found time to fish nearly every day, and the channel cats have been biting most of the time.

Hmmm… 98 degrees and sunshine, or 65 degrees and light rain/drizzle.. no bees, no mosquitos, no bitng flies, no other fishermen(besides those that join me). Its not a hard choice to me… I would ather break out the rain jacket and catch fish vs break out the sunscreen and watch bayliners all day with little to show for it.

If your waiting for a day with perfect weather in Minnesota to go fishing… you may as well sell your equipment. Its usually too hot, too cold, too wet, or too windy. The days with “perfect seasonal weather”, you will have other obligations.

Hi Brian – I put up the Day Enclosure and fished in it last week. It is pretty sweet – I’m high and dry and toasty with good visibility all the way around. It will give me some comfortable fishing in September and October. The boat is rigged for front and back fishing with the enclosure up. It works great for drifting – the trolling motor is perfect for those calm days. With the enclosure up I can run at about 18 mph and the marina is nice and close to my favorite sturgeon and cat spots. It is going to be a fun fall season.

I am a bit of a sadist, but give me 95 and humid over 65 and rainy. Another thing is the hands start loosing functionality when the temp is under 60 and it is rainy. And if there is a wind, forget about it.

I seem to remember a tourney last year rushing back to the 494 launch and being pelted with rain. Who was the captain again?

    …it’s blue.
