After the bunch of people coming dwindled down to nothing, the GTG ended up being just me and Mudshark. As the day progressed it looked like beautiful conditions and then the wind picked up, which makes it harder to do what I like to do. Rain would have stopped a Saturday night adventure so goes the weather. Still we managed 7 fish including Mudsharks personal best at 16lbs. It was a heck of battle and the fish caused a huge boil next to the boat. I thought it might be the biggest I had seen. Then it came up and circled the anchor rope and had to be hand landed which is always a treat with a large female channel cat. Here it tis.

I’m happy for you guys…bummed that I couldn’t be there.

How much rain did you guys get?

I’m thinking Mudshark has a new avatar!

Well I still think the cigarette in the mouth was a little crass….but I did not want to spit it out in kev’s boat Happened too fast…
That and I STILL think it was a “little” better than 16
Still..It was a great time..and kev has this pattern down on this lake for big channels,They were fat too!!!
I would do it again in a heartbeat.
    Thanks again guy!!!

    Very cool

I also wish I could have made the trip. Between the wife not having work too, all kinds of hours, I was not able to get away

That doesn’t mean when the time is right I wouldn’t make the trip to sit in the boat with ya

Same thing goes this way sir

After only meeting Mudshark once, I’m sure you guys had a good time in the boat

Next year if it would work out for a group, I know Mendota would be way cool

Mudshark is good guy. Which is par for the course with people I have fished with here at IDA. We got an inch or two with more on the way tonight. the farmers are breathing easier now but it is still very dry. Jeff,

Did you find any perch on Saturday morning?

Sorry to hear the GTG fizzled out. I had my daughter last weekend, so I had no chance of going.

I couldn’t make the fishing friday night, I had last minute things to attend to that took WAY longer than planned… but I did get to have a brat and beer or two with these guys before hand; guess that’s the best I could do given the circumstances.

About 5 or so on saturday the wind and rain picked up and we got a little lightning too out by Mazomanie. I figured you guys were chased off the lake. Next time we’ll get out for certain, and I’ll bring the beer.

Jake is also a good guy to fish with, nice to have a good stick around who knows how to keep a rig ship shape. It would have been tight with 3 in the boat. Not impossible but crowded. About 9:30 the wind got nice and calm and the fish bit pretty good from 10:30 to 1:00. Usually it is earlier. After we hit a fish while it was still light, I thought we might be on a real good bite but it was just average. The beer was cold and Jeff is loaded with good stories. I’ll take his word for it that Bret is a good guy even though he keeps posting baitfish.
