I’ve heard the flow is so slow that the water’s moving UP the MN…any truth to that??
Last night the water was moving Right to Left last I checked. But when I spun around 180 in the boat seat, it was moving Left to Right. Strange…

Be careful Hanson, the Minnesota is known for it’s boat sucking whirlpools.
I gather, mostly from people who actually catch flatheads, that there are definitely windows every day when most of them will feed. That window changes from day to day. I would guess that it has, at least in part, something to do with the moon. Weather and barometric pressure affects fish too, although they say not so much for river fish. But flatheads could be an exception that is hypersensitive to pressure. Unlike most fish, we not only have to predict where they will be but when they will be actively feeding.
Now I know that they don’t all shut off completely outside this so called window of mine, but I have seen posts here of people fishing on the same night, same time period with very similar results and fish caught within 1/2 hour of the distant boat.
For those who have kept thorough logs, you I suppose would have already noticed this. If anyone has fished say 7 nights in a row and caught a few fish each night, it would be interesting to see if the bite occurred either progressively later or earlier each day.
Alright, commence ripping my theory apart.

What I always find strange is that all the fish seem to go from the left to the right…on my fishfinder
Why is that

on the lower MN where the river doesn’t get “skinny” I can understand the low flow, but up here, find a skinny section due to low water and you literally have white water rapids.

That about sums it up, don’t it? I mean they have been fishing for flats in greater numbers down south for years and the best they can come up with to insure they get one on a trip is noodling, hand-grabben or whatever you want to call it.
I call it poaching, but that’s another topic.
