about their strugeon taggin below Lock and Dam 3. I think this guy was tagged last week.

He was caught while taking the FW and FD out catfishing. I had two cut suckers out and two bullheads…

The FD pulled in a 4ish pound channel and I think the FW had her finger over the flash as both pics didn’t turn out.

Lightening started our way at about 10 pm and this little guy was on sharp end of a 10/0 Gami hook!

I’ll post the tag info after the holidays.

The activity on the water last night was intense! Wish we could have stayed out later…boat traffic was non existant last night.

You didn’t know that I gps marked your spot Stuart?

We tried there…but I just couldn’t hold the boat. About every 20 minutes we would go spinning!

The FW did get her channel cat there.

Heres the story on the sturgeon I hooked and…more importantly…the study on P4 of sturgeon.

    Quote:

Thanks Brian for informing me of your tagged sturgeon recapture. To date, we
have tagged 13 lake sturgeon below LD3 and have recaptured a lake sturgeon that
was tagged just south of Stillwater, MN by the East Metro DNR fisheries crew on
August 19, 2005. The fish you caught was caught and tagged below LD 3 on
6/28/07 by the Lake City fisheries crew. Not much more I can fill you in on.
However, I am quite surprised that you have caught a tagged fish already.
Judging by the number and size ranges of sturgeon that we have seen “jumping”
out of the water below LD 3, I would guess that the population is doing quite
good. If so, the probability that you would catch a tagged sturgeon would be
quite low. I guess you were successful on picking the needle out of the
haystack that night! Anyway, please keep me informed if you happen to catch any
other tagged sturgeon. I will also periodically update you on our tagging
    project. Thanks again.

P.S. Just making sure, did you leave the tag in the fish? Just so you or any other angler that may happen to catch a tagged fish is not
confused, please do not remove the tag from the sturgeon upon release. Just
record the number and report to the DNR and we will get you as much information
as possible about that fish. Thanks.

Hey Brian. Is that tag now an integral part of your keychain?

“……….Funny you should ask about my necklace. It’s a fish tag that was stuck in a fish for a year. You want to go back to my place and see the rest of my collection??”

I am not sure that it’s the conversation starter you’re looking for Brian.

    Brian,
Did you buy a lottery ticket after that. Caught one of 13 tagged fish in the Mississippi. Lets see you do that again!
