Saltwater Striker SBF50 with live bait feed/clicker, strung with 80 lb. PowerPro High Vis. Yellow, on a Berkley Glow Rod. Which is nice cuz it has a couple blue LED’s in it that glow blue and let you see the tip from where ever.

I also want the same set up as Mark-Audemp has, you’d have to ask him the details but damn does it cast far. It’s a bit pricey be I think its worth the money!

Yeah I like the Shimano Tekota 600 teamed up with a #4 “Boss” Jim Moyer rod. I have it spooled with 100# Power Pro but 80# Power pro will work just fine. If your friend is in Iowa have him get online and check out Catfish connection. If you are in Minneapolis check out Moore’s Bait and Tackle he has everything you will ever need for cattin

I’ve loved my Salt Striker (Baitcaster) teamed up with my Berkley Glowstick. I’ve yet to switch out the glowstick for my Quantum Big Cat rod. It’s a little stouter. Both from Mr. Moore, although I got the reel somewhere else. It’s a nice mid-range reel. I don’t use the blue glow on the rod anymore. I like using the spot light for a minute or so to get my glow on.

Spinning equipment you cant beat the Epixor 50 models(same as salt striker from cabelas). They are very tough, dependable reels that have the baitclicker function… and wont break the bank($60-$70). There are a few good rods out there… For spinning the best I have seen/used is the Ugly stick TIGER rods, Surge, and night sticks have a couple decent rods, but I highly recommend having them in hand to be sure your getting the action/weight you want. These rods sell for $40-$65 and wont leave you dissapointed.

Hopefully you find one. I am not a big fan of 2-piece rods, even ones that are over 7′. When I bought my GS, my thoughts were it is a nice starter rod, like I said though, I have a hard time switching to the one piece Quantum I have. I love the action and it is sensitive. Using 80# PP I think makes just about any rod sensitive. My only complaint is the nob on the end that you turn the blue glow on and off by twisting can be cumbersome in some rod holders.
