It is the best when you are pulling bait or ringworms up river and you are in the back and the person up front is running the trolling motor and looking forward. A quick tap of his line with your rod tip will get him everytime. Not that I would ever do that to a fishing buddy Good times
Once we were fishing in New York Harbor, fishing on a pier. My buddy went to use the can. I snuck under the pier onto a small floating deck on the water. While gone I wrapped a wood dowel around his 40lb mono…. When he returned and picked up the rod. I did a gentle tug and then started running back under the pier.. LOL. I still think he hasn’t forgiven me to this day…
One word “FLAG!!!”. One time I was up fishing with my grandfather and two uncles. My grandpa pulled up his slip bobber and noticed he had his son’s hook tied up in his. so he hooked it on the opposite side of the canoe and gave the line a yank. Uncle mel fought that world record blue gill for 20 minutes before we let him off the hook. “This is a solid fish” he said. Turned out to be a 17 footer.
Had a friend mess with my line once while I was fishing. It’s strange every since then the passenger side of my boat always seems to be taking the brunt of the waves beating on it while were running -my side seems to stay pretty dry! I also noticed he seems to snag up alot more when we’re trolling than I do??? Weird
With me and the brothers, we do the old subtle trick. Where you move and make a little grunt like you just set the hook on something. There’s that and when pike fishing and the fish is running, everyone else in the boat tries to frazzle the guy letting the fish run. “Oow, that looks like a big one”, “Don’t miss it”, “Not yet”, “Careful, careful….” I think we have more fun seeing a guy miss one and teasing him about it….eh, Ron?
