640 wide is too wide. 450 pixels MAX in the width dimension, please.
The easiest way to do this is to let out server do the sizing during the upload… all the dimensions are set by the system we have in place behind the scenes.

I resize all my pics to 640×480 before storing to photobucket.
Here’s what I do:
1. Download raw image from camera to secondary HDD for storage. Edit pic, resize to 640×480 and upload to photobucket, share.
If I share more than one picture on this server, then I need to make a post for every picture.
I don’t want to resize smaller for PB as it’s an emergency backup as well, and 640×480 is almost too small as it is.
So if 640 is too wide, I will respect the request and not post any 640 wide. Unfortunately that will be all my pics
I guess I could always just use thumbnails.
I think some detailed instuctions on posting pics the right way, would be a good thing to have somewhere permanent , like possibly when you click the forums button withe the other forums, this way anyone wanting to post would have to see it before hand.It seems to be a very frequently asked question. Just an idea.

We will be adding a multi-photo per post option very shortly. That system will function the way the photo system in the classifieds works. Right now we’re allowing 4 photos per post but we can expand that to any number we want.
As for 640 being too small… I politely disagree. All the photos in this thread are 450 pix wide or smaller and all but one was added using the server upload.
I’m not a fan of people using the image tag to add photos here even though hosting them on our servers costs money. I look at the posts we make here as a permanent record of who we fish with, our time spent on the water with friends and family… and a knowledge base of tremendous value.
Posts that have photos loaded from photobucket and other similar sites basically fall apart after a year or so… images deleted off the photobucket servers no longer display here, or anywhere for that matter, and the value of the threads are lost with the appearance of that damned red “X” where photos used to be.
Please… try and learn to use the photo upload system here on the site. Getting your photos under 100,000 bytes to start the upload is simple and then our threads here will stay complete for years to come.
Thanks guys.
Thanks James, you’ve answered the much better than I ever could.

Todd, we have a post (or two) in the FAQ Forum that talks about posting pics.
PS all of my photos posted are resized to 1,000,000 or less bytes. the server does the rest for me…I guess it’s a bit backwards…but it’s easier than working with piczals ….for me!
