Here’s my biggest, a 57 incher, no girth measurement and I didn’t bring a scale with. It might look like the fish is just hovering there underneath a head, above the boat — but if you look closely there’s a guy. Hard to see with that camo on and stuff, I know.

I for one Brian cant wait until this post gets going again. These fish are awesome to catch. When does the season open on the croix? Are there other times than the spring to catch then at LOTW?

Sept 1 though Oct 15 is the St Croix season.

Mike, they bite all year long with spring and fall being the peak.

LOTW’s and The Rainy have a longer season…I THINK it opens back up in July(?). Tom at Wigwam Resort actually guides for them in the summer. Generally Wigwam has some pretty good lodging deals for the week day vacationer, no matter what fish is targeted.

9/22/03 St. Croix Length 66 inches Girth 27 inches

It was caught a short distance from Beanies. We quickly raced into Beanies to weigh it but he din’t have a sling and we would of had to hang the fish by its mouth. We took a quick picture and got her back in the water. It took about 35 minutes to revive her but she did strongly swim away. Did I mention she did a dolphin and came completely out of the water? It was a sight we will always cherish in awe!

Joe, you need an average size guy to hold your fish for you. You’re size makes them look smaller.
